9 Jowett Lane: Where Family History Meets Coastal Magic in Bayfield's Embrace
Prior to becoming a cottage rental, this cottage was owned by our grandparents, Robert and Doris MacArthur. The two grew up, fell in love and started a family in nearby London Ontario! In the 60s, our grandpa built a cottage along Ipperwash beach for the family to vacation at while he was working at the cadets training camp. Over the years, they visited the quaint village of Bayfield, watched it grow and flourish into the town it is today! They fell in love with the historic waterfront, beautiful beach and gorgeous west coast sunsets! It was not long, before they wanted to move up the coast to this quaint village! So, in 1995, the year Zac was born, they purchased 9 Jowett Lane and turned it into the family cottage. They loved that they could enjoy the beach front, watch the boats in the marina, and bask in the beautiful sunsets, all the while being a short stroll from the centre of Bayfield!
Growing up we made many wonderful memories at Camp Grandma (the MacArthur Park cottage). We would spend at least a week every summer spending time with grandma and grandpa by the lake. Camp Grandma always consisted of fun outdoor adventures up to the village or along the lake front! We would go on beach walks to hunt for the best rocks to paint or walk down to the pier to chat with all the friendly people fishing. Whether it was painting rocks on the back deck, tea parties in the sunroom, board games in the living room or baking with grandma in the kitchen, Camp Grandma was never a dull moment!
This beautiful place was a cherished home for everyone in our family! Our grandparents wanted to share their favourite place with everyone they loved! It was the location of countless family reunions, anniversaries, and birthday parties. The cottage even hosted a large family wedding!

MacArthur Park Cottage was the perfect place for our “girl’s getaway”. The house is clean, comfy and spacious. Stocked with everything you need and lots of extras! Beautiful views, quiet setting, but also just a short walk into the quaint village of Bayfield with plenty of shops, restaurants and interesting history. Zac was very accessible for any questions and has the most detailed and informative digital welcome book I’ve ever seen. Such a great help! We will definitely plan to return!

We only regret not staying longer. We felt right at home - from the fire pit to the hot tub to kayaking and a dip in the lake there was always something to do to relax. The extras for my toddler were a bonus: high chair, Legos, crafts table, and kids car. The property had everything we needed - never felt the urge to leave.

This place is breathtaking! The views are out of this world. Loved getting to watch the sunset every night with my family and making memories we will have forever. Zac and Maddison were great hosts! Would rent this place again!

The property is perfect-great deck looking over the water. New hot tub was a welcome addition. Cottage was fully stocked with all that a person would need. The owners have thought of everything whether you are a family with kids or adults looking for a fun getaway. Would recommend this property to anyone

Our second stay with Zac at his family cottage. It was just as relaxing and picturesque in January as it was in July. Perfect spot, perfect layout for a big family get-together. All the amenities you could ever want or need. New additions included the hot tub, table soccer, mini gym with bike. Wonderful all around.

We just finished our second family stay at MacArthur Park. This is a beautiful home with every amenity, activities galore, and lots of space to spread out and be private. The wall of lake facing windows allow for stellar views in any weather or season, with beautiful outdoor spaces when the weather permits. This gem is only a short stroll from picturesque Bayfield's main square and is truly worth every penny!
